Arriving after 5 PM at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, I found the Edith Garland Dupre Library open, but the Jefferson Caffery Louisiana Room (Special Collections) on the 4th floor closed. I would revisit the university to get my hands on a book I wanted, now behind locked doors.
The Edith Garland Dupre Library is generally at the center of campus. Address 104 East University in Lafayette. Parking is a short walk away, at the Girard Park Circle parking garage. Parking was very easy. From memory, parking costs $3 to $5, but I might be wrong.
The general stacks in the library had a considerable amount of southern Louisiana-related genealogy volumes around call number F377 (3rd floor). They have Father Hebert’s SWLA books; some are missing, and some are repeated.
Library call numbers: 1st floor, H, J, K, and Z. 2nd floor, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, and V. 3rd floor, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.

My second visit to this university library was earlier in the day. This time, the special collections on the 4th floor of the library was open. I noted they had a complete set of Father Hebert’s SWLA indexes to volume 46, each of the Baton Rouge Diocese’s indexes, and all of the New Orleans Archdiocese volumes. The room has a copy machine, but I had no problem taking pictures of the pages I wanted. This is not a ‘white gloves’ room, just an extension of the library.
Parking in parking structure; fee. Eats Unknown. Wi-Fi in the Library.
